Terrible...Horrible...No Good...Very GOOD Day!

Sometimes being a mom is hard! All of you moms out there I am sure can agree with that. Being a mom is hard. You have days where it seems like nothing you ever do is right, where patience is gone, where you are counting down the minutes until nap time; only to discover that today is a "no nap" day! I know that I am only the mother of one so I probably have no right to complain. But today (and yesterday) have been not my best mommy days and sometimes I feel like I am living in the book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"! (Which if you haven't read is a super cute children's book.) Sometimes I feel so inadequate to be my beautiful daughters mother. I get so upset with myself for not having enough patience and for not showing her enough love. I worry that she doesn't always get the best of me and I am always praying for strength and guidance to be a better mom. Well, tonight I took the welcome break and left the kiddo with Daddy and went to the Relief Society broadcast. After the broadcast my stake had a dinner for us which was yummy and also gave me the chance to talk to other adults. While talking Katie's great Sunbeam teacher told me how much she enjoys katie in Sunbeams. She then told me that every Sunday at some point during Sunbeams She and Katie have this conversation:

Katie: "Where is my mommy?"
Teacher: "She is in her class"
Katie: "I LOVE my mommy! Do you love my mommy?"
Teacher: "Yes I love your mommy"
Katie: "I LOVE my mommy too!"

Well it made my whole day to hear that! Even though I am FAR from perfect Katie must know that I love her. Regardless of anything else I want her to know how much I love her! So instead of today being a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day it turned out to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very GOOD day! "Even in Australia"

Summer 2009

Not that my life is all that exciting or entertaining but I thought I would do a quick post remembering the Summer of 2009. We went to Arizona twice, spent many days at the zoo feeding the giraffe and watching the bird show, Katie turned two, Every Wednesday was "Bounce U" day, every thursday is library day, every Friday we go to another story time at a super cute book store as well as go to our favorite park (the bear park) and get a cookie at the cutest cookie shop I have ever seen! We went to the beach twice, we went to the towns AAA baseball team many times where Katie got to sing "Take me out to the ball game" and ride the merry-go-round and where Stephen and I have both developed a love for the game! We also went to the water park many times and loved watching Katie splash and play. I think that about sums it up! We had a great summer and it zoomed by. I simply can't understand how we are nearing halloween already. I am in a really reflective mood right now and I feel a rush of sadness as I consider how quickly my daughters life has gone by... thankfully I still have more time but I wish that sometimes I could stop and smell the roses more often! Below are some pictures that sum up our summer!
