Katie-isms

Stephen: "Geez I am sweating like crazy"

Katie: "Geez I am sweating like crazy"

Stephen: "Are you a little copy cat?"

Katie: "Yes I am.... MEOW MEOW MEOW!"

we both laughed out loud!'

Since Katie says some of the funniest things and I never write them down before forgetting them I thought I would share this one!

Just a thought!

This is so true. I love the gospel! This conference weekend was wonderful and left me feeling energized and ready to do and be better. Even though this wasn't from conference I really enjoy this so I thought I would share it.

Terrible...Horrible...No Good...Very GOOD Day!

Sometimes being a mom is hard! All of you moms out there I am sure can agree with that. Being a mom is hard. You have days where it seems like nothing you ever do is right, where patience is gone, where you are counting down the minutes until nap time; only to discover that today is a "no nap" day! I know that I am only the mother of one so I probably have no right to complain. But today (and yesterday) have been not my best mommy days and sometimes I feel like I am living in the book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"! (Which if you haven't read is a super cute children's book.) Sometimes I feel so inadequate to be my beautiful daughters mother. I get so upset with myself for not having enough patience and for not showing her enough love. I worry that she doesn't always get the best of me and I am always praying for strength and guidance to be a better mom. Well, tonight I took the welcome break and left the kiddo with Daddy and went to the Relief Society broadcast. After the broadcast my stake had a dinner for us which was yummy and also gave me the chance to talk to other adults. While talking Katie's great Sunbeam teacher told me how much she enjoys katie in Sunbeams. She then told me that every Sunday at some point during Sunbeams She and Katie have this conversation:

Katie: "Where is my mommy?"
Teacher: "She is in her class"
Katie: "I LOVE my mommy! Do you love my mommy?"
Teacher: "Yes I love your mommy"
Katie: "I LOVE my mommy too!"

Well it made my whole day to hear that! Even though I am FAR from perfect Katie must know that I love her. Regardless of anything else I want her to know how much I love her! So instead of today being a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day it turned out to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very GOOD day! "Even in Australia"

Summer 2009

Not that my life is all that exciting or entertaining but I thought I would do a quick post remembering the Summer of 2009. We went to Arizona twice, spent many days at the zoo feeding the giraffe and watching the bird show, Katie turned two, Every Wednesday was "Bounce U" day, every thursday is library day, every Friday we go to another story time at a super cute book store as well as go to our favorite park (the bear park) and get a cookie at the cutest cookie shop I have ever seen! We went to the beach twice, we went to the towns AAA baseball team many times where Katie got to sing "Take me out to the ball game" and ride the merry-go-round and where Stephen and I have both developed a love for the game! We also went to the water park many times and loved watching Katie splash and play. I think that about sums it up! We had a great summer and it zoomed by. I simply can't understand how we are nearing halloween already. I am in a really reflective mood right now and I feel a rush of sadness as I consider how quickly my daughters life has gone by... thankfully I still have more time but I wish that sometimes I could stop and smell the roses more often! Below are some pictures that sum up our summer!

Katie Turns 2... let the good times roll!

So considering it is August and Katie's b-day was in JUNE I am behind. Better Late than never. We had Katie's party at an inflatable bounce place called Bounce U. It was really fun to have all of the family come and celebrate with us. Katie was lucky to get many fun gifts. Among her favorites were a homemade stuffed animal frog from Mandy and a kid size broom, vacuum, and dustpan from Aunt Amber. She is definitely two but in all honesty she is still a pretty amazing toddler. Katie loves to sing songs, jump, dance and play all day. She knows the words to so many songs I can't even count them. Currently she loves to sing "Take Me Out To the Ball Game" and "How Much Is That Doggy In the Window". (Please don't mind all of my rambles on here it is mainly for me because this is basically the only time I write stuff down about Katie's development.) Anyway it has been a great two years and I am blessed to be her mommy. I wouldn't trade these last two years for anything!

Katie's first time at the beach~

My whole family went to the beach a while ago. We went for memorial day weekend and we had a great time! We found a perfect spot on the beach with swings and a slide and it wasn't that crowded. The water was cold so katie didn't really play in it that much but she loved to dig in the sand! We buried her in the sand but she got out before I could get a good picture of it. In the last picture katie is flying a kite with Uncle John.

Grandpa came to California!

Pat came to CA for a job interview and so we went to go and spend a few hours with him. We went out to dinner at Chevys and I was telling Stephen and Pat how my old friend Stephen Scholle used to come here for his birthday every year to get the free birthday hat. Well our waitress overheard us and she surprised all of us by bringing Katie a hat and some fried ice cream as well as half of the staff to sing a version of "Happy Birthday"! The look on Katie's face when they placed this huge hat on her head and all of these people gathered around her unexpectedly and started to clap and sing was priceless. Sadly I didn't have my camera with me to capture the moment. The funny part was that our waitress told me later that to bring out the hat she had to lie to all of her co-workers. she told them that it was Katie's one year old birthday. Needless to say this was right before Katie's second birthday so I really doubt that any one believed her! Why our waitress decided that Katie needed to have the FULL Chevys experience I don't know but it sure made it a fun and memorable event! Now every time Katie plays with her hat she talks about Grandpa Smith!

Three generations

The infamous hat!

I know Easter was.... four months ago!

Here is My Katie Bug at Easter... She had a blast looking and finding Easter Eggs. The looking for them went on and on because as she put them back we (Stephen and I and Grandpa) would hide them again! This Easter was really a blast because she understood (for the most part) that the "Easter Bunny" came and brought her toys and candy! We also tried to talk a little bit about the true meaning of Easter but that part of Easter was a little more difficult for her to grasp.

This is Katie with her Easter baskets- One (her real easter basket) had some candy, crayons, coloring book, a stuffed bunny and a chocolate bunny which we have decided is Katie's Easter tradition to always get a stuffed animal bunny and a chocolate easter bunny in her basket because both years she has! The other basket was just what she used to find easter eggs outside!

Here is Katie posing with her basket after she found it. It was hiding in Nylah and Miranda's room under a chair. We had to give her some hints about finding it but she did a good job

The rest of these are of Katie finding Easter Eggs. We had such a wonderful Easter (four months ago!)

here is Katie in her Easter dress with her super cute cousins!.

HORRAY!!

Ok so I am finally back into the blogging world. BYU-I finally discovered that I am not a student anymore and so they deleted my e-mail account with them which was the same account I was using to blog with. So I went and created a new e-mail account and then whenever I tried to log into my blog it wouldn't let me. I had changed my e-mail address with blogger but it still wouldn't let me. So i have finally figured out how to fix the confusion so I can blog again! I will be going back in time to blog past events to try and catch up! Soon more will be coming!
