2009 Halloween Extravaganza!

We did a lot for Halloween. We had a carnival that we went to, a costume dress up story time, ward Halloween party, and of course trick or treating! All in all I was happy for November to come and to say good bye to halloween. We did have fun though and Katie got to wear her costume a lot more than I had thought which is always good. So I know it is super late for halloween pictures but due to baby number two I haven't felt that great and therefore my blogging has fallen behind! So here it is Halloween 2009!

BIG news...

Well if you couldn't quite read the words on her shirt it says, "I have a secret...I'm going to be a big sister!" Thats right we are pregnant with baby number two. We are very excited to have a new addition to our family and Katie is very excited to be a big sister. My due date is June 6th. We of course don't know the sex of the baby yet but I am officially guessing that it is a boy. I am sick, sick, sick but it is all part of the fun. We have ultra sound pictures of the new little (very little) one but our scanner is currently broken so once we can scan them in I will post them.

We had a lot of fun at the pumpkin patch. Katie loved riding the pony and picking out her pumpkin. We also went into a hay maze.

katie-isms 2

so katie and my mom and I are all sitting outside on the front porch talking about the dark rain clouds. We told Katie that it looked like it was going to rain because of the clouds and that we should probably go inside. Katie of course refused and kept chattering away about the pretty clouds. A few minutes later it started to sprinkle before we could say anything Katie said, "WE GOT TO GET INSIDE A BIG RAIN STORM IS COMING!" She ran inside covering her head with her arms and then turned to us and said, "Hurry Hurry!" Honestly it just makes me laugh because Katie speaks so well for her age and sometimes I am amazed at what she understands!

Katie's room remodel!

Here is katie's new room! It took us about a week to paint and put up the boarder and hang all of the pictures and things on the walls. It was a lot of hard work but I think it was worth it! I loved being able to organize and clean all of Katie's things. katie calls it her "pretty room" and she absolutely loves it! So anyway I was proud of all of our hard work so I thought I would share with you the finished product.

Cousin Love

Here are some cute pictures of Katie and Ellie playing and being the best of friends! I always enjoy it when Ellie comes to play because Katie is entertained by someone other than me. The two girls get along decently well but poor little Jacob always gets left out of the fun. Here are the girls decorating halloween sugar cookies and reading in Katie's bed!

Rainy day fun!

Yesterday it rained for the first time this season. The second Katie woke up she said to me, "Mommy it's RAINING! We need to get me an umbrella!" She is right about the umbrella last years didn't even make it through the entire winter. But we went outside and played anyway. she had a blast jumping in the puddles and getting soaked. Our fun ended with a change of clothing, hot coco, and snuggles on the coach. Who could ask for a better day?

Katie-isms

Stephen: "Geez I am sweating like crazy"

Katie: "Geez I am sweating like crazy"

Stephen: "Are you a little copy cat?"

Katie: "Yes I am.... MEOW MEOW MEOW!"

we both laughed out loud!'

Since Katie says some of the funniest things and I never write them down before forgetting them I thought I would share this one!

Just a thought!

This is so true. I love the gospel! This conference weekend was wonderful and left me feeling energized and ready to do and be better. Even though this wasn't from conference I really enjoy this so I thought I would share it.

Terrible...Horrible...No Good...Very GOOD Day!

Sometimes being a mom is hard! All of you moms out there I am sure can agree with that. Being a mom is hard. You have days where it seems like nothing you ever do is right, where patience is gone, where you are counting down the minutes until nap time; only to discover that today is a "no nap" day! I know that I am only the mother of one so I probably have no right to complain. But today (and yesterday) have been not my best mommy days and sometimes I feel like I am living in the book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"! (Which if you haven't read is a super cute children's book.) Sometimes I feel so inadequate to be my beautiful daughters mother. I get so upset with myself for not having enough patience and for not showing her enough love. I worry that she doesn't always get the best of me and I am always praying for strength and guidance to be a better mom. Well, tonight I took the welcome break and left the kiddo with Daddy and went to the Relief Society broadcast. After the broadcast my stake had a dinner for us which was yummy and also gave me the chance to talk to other adults. While talking Katie's great Sunbeam teacher told me how much she enjoys katie in Sunbeams. She then told me that every Sunday at some point during Sunbeams She and Katie have this conversation:

Katie: "Where is my mommy?"
Teacher: "She is in her class"
Katie: "I LOVE my mommy! Do you love my mommy?"
Teacher: "Yes I love your mommy"
Katie: "I LOVE my mommy too!"

Well it made my whole day to hear that! Even though I am FAR from perfect Katie must know that I love her. Regardless of anything else I want her to know how much I love her! So instead of today being a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day it turned out to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very GOOD day! "Even in Australia"
